Welcome to A Better World!
Our students will continue to use this wiki all year long, to share digital projects which focus on their ideas for making the world a better place.
For this activity the students compose a short GarageBand or Audacity rap in groups, which is used to create a short spliced and dubbed video, focused on a global issue and one idea for making the world a better place. Each group has their own wiki page on which they upload their rap, written collaboratively in Google Docs, their rap song as an mp3 file produced in GarageBand and/or Audacity, and their final movie produced in iMovie as well as a short description and reflection. It's now SY16-17, A Better World Project is underway!
It is our hope that other schools will become interested in this work and take on an "A Better World" activity using some form of digital media, which can then be added to the wiki. If you are interested in your school taking part in this please contact an organiser by asking to join the wiki or via email (email@example.com) so that we can give you access. You do not need to use the same applications that we do. These are just suggestions, there are plenty more available, many of the free.
The Web Conference
The students in both the ABC and BCD had a nice chat on October 3rd, about the project. They discussed the global issues they had chosen to focus on and shared information about where they were at in the project, the aspects they most enjoyed, what they found easy and difficult and offered advice to each other about how to do their best manage the collaborative work during the project. We would love to have more sessions like this one and invite you to join us for the project, which runs all year long.
Here are a few photos from the session.
